These are regulated charges that are charged by the National Grid and the regional electricity Distribution Companies. This covers the costs that are involved in the transportation of gas and electricity all over the country and to your business. The charges are built into the price of gas and electricity. This is then recovered through your gas or electricity invoice. The transmission and distribution charges make up about 20% of the electricity invoice.
