I have a RTS Meter (Radio Teleswitch), what do I need to know?

Replacement of RTS (Radio Teleswitch) Meters: What You Need to Know

We are committed to ensuring a smooth and seamless transition for our customers as Radio Teleswitch (RTS) meters are phased out by 30 June 2025. As your energy supplier, we recognise the importance of replacing these older meters with smart meters to avoid any disruption to your energy services.

Why Are RTS Meters Being Replaced?

RTS meters rely on longwave radio signals to switch between peak and off-peak times automatically. However, these signals will soon be discontinued, meaning RTS meters will no longer function properly after 30 June 2025. To prevent any issues with your energy service, we are proactively replacing all RTS meters with modern smart meters.

Our Approach to Replacing RTS Meters

We are working closely with our Meter Operator Managers (MOPs) to identify and replace all RTS meters in our customer portfolio. We are actively reaching out to all affected customers to explain the phase-out, the potential impact on energy services, and how we plan to ensure a smooth transition.

What You Can Expect from Us

Communication and Engagement: Our MOPs will contact all RTS meter customers by 31 December 2024. We will provide clear, easy-to-understand information about the RTS phase-out, explain how it affects you, and set up an appointment for your meter upgrade. If you do not schedule an initial appointment, our MOPs will follow up with you via email or phone to stress the importance of upgrading your meter before the RTS shutdown on 30 June 2025.
